Your Spouse Doesn't Want a Divorce

If your spouse isn't ready to let go of your marriage, perhaps it's worth considering a reconciliation. Maybe one person in the marriage really was not aware of the problems that existed, and now that they know about it, they want to make an effort to change things.

If this is the case, it might be worth some time in counseling to see if you can really come to a point of peace in your marriage. If you can, you new married life may be completely different and even more fulfilling as compared with your early married life.

You Just Aren't Sure

Divorcing is a difficult decision, and no matter what your spouse has done or what you feel has ruined your marriage, you may be on the fence about moving on. This could be due to fear of what the future as a single person may bring or it might just be because you aren't ready to throw in the towel. Is that a bad thing? Of course not.

Bottom line, whether you should stay married or not is no one's business but yours. If you're having doubts, take the time you need to make sure the decision to end your marriage is the right one for you. Don't listen to friends or even society. Instead, listen to your heart, and do what's right for you and your family.

Are you unmarried? While some midlifers choose to stay single after a divorce or breakup, others have chosen never to marry. Marriage is a personal decision and it's not right for everyone.
